Privacy Policy

How we collect, use and safeguard the information you share with us. Updated June 2026.

American Publisher takes your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we collect from authors and prospective clients, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. By using our website or engaging our services, you agree to the terms below.

Company information

American Publisher is a brand owned and operated by Its On Media LLC, a company registered in Fresno, California, with its registered address at 1665 E. Green Sage Ave, Fresno, CA 93730 ("Its On Media LLC," "we," "us," or "our"). We operate this website and provide the services described on it. Payments for our services are collected by Its On Media LLC, which may appear on your card or bank statement under Its On Media LLC or a clearly related descriptor.

1. Information we collect

We collect three categories of information:

  • Information you provide directly: name, email, phone number, country and any project details you submit through our contact form, the lead-capture wizard, or by email.
  • Manuscript and project material: drafts, outlines, voice memos, interview transcripts and any creative material you supply for a paid engagement.
  • Information collected automatically: anonymised analytics about pages visited, device type, approximate location (city level), referring source, and live-chat interactions.

2. How we use your information

Your information is used solely for the following purposes:

  • Replying to your enquiry with a fixed-price proposal within 48 hours.
  • Delivering the services you have engaged us for: writing, editing, formatting, design, illustration or publishing.
  • Processing payments through our invoicing partners.
  • Improving our website and services through aggregated analytics.
  • Sending occasional updates if you have explicitly opted into our journal newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time.

3. Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone. We share it only with the following parties, and only when strictly necessary:

  • Trusted contractors on your specific project (writers, editors, illustrators, formatters), each bound by our standard confidentiality agreement.
  • Service providers we use to run the business, such as payment processors, email infrastructure and file storage. Each is bound by their own data-protection terms.
  • Legal authorities if we are compelled by valid court order, subpoena or applicable law.

Manuscript material is never shared outside the team working on your project, and never used as a sample without your written permission.

4. Confidentiality of manuscripts

A mutual non-disclosure agreement is signed before any creative material is exchanged on a paid engagement. See our Writing NDA page for the full terms. Manuscript material is held on encrypted, access-controlled storage and is destroyed within 60 days of final delivery on request.

5. Cookies and tracking

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Essential cookies: required for the site to function (e.g. session state, language preference).
  • Analytics cookies: anonymised page-view data so we can improve the site. We do not link this data to your name or email.
  • Live-chat cookies: set by our chat provider (Tawk.to) to maintain your conversation across visits. Removing the cookies removes the conversation history.

You can disable non-essential cookies through your browser settings without losing access to the core site.

6. Data security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information: TLS encryption for all data in transit, encrypted storage at rest, access controls limiting who on the team can see what, and a documented incident-response procedure if anything goes wrong. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep ours close to the front of the industry pack.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct any inaccurate information.
  • Ask us to delete your information (subject to legal and contractual retention requirements).
  • Withdraw consent for any optional processing, such as the newsletter.
  • Object to processing or request that we restrict it.

To exercise any of these rights, email contact@americanpublisher.co. We respond within 30 days.

8. Retention

We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide our services and meet our legal obligations:

  • Lead enquiries that do not convert: deleted after 12 months.
  • Client records: retained for 7 years for accounting and tax purposes.
  • Manuscript drafts and creative material: destroyed within 60 days of final delivery on written request, or after 24 months by default.

9. Children's privacy

Our services are intended for authors aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. International transfers

American Publisher operates from the United States. If you are based elsewhere, your information may be transferred to and processed in the US. We use standard contractual clauses with any sub-processor located outside your jurisdiction.

11. Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the “last updated” date at the top. Significant changes will be communicated to active clients by email.

12. Contact

For any privacy question, write to contact@americanpublisher.co or use the form on our contact page.
